$3 Million Settlement Reached in Lawsuit Over Andy Lopez Shooting

Sonoma County is set to pay a three-million dollar settlement in connection with a 2013 deputy-involved shooting.  Supervisors voted unanimously yesterday to settle the civil lawsuit filed by the family of 13-year-old Andy Lopez, who was shot and killed while walking down the street carrying an airsoft BB gun. Local political activist Caroline Banuelos on the Drive:

The settlement is the largest paid out by the county in cases involving officer use of force.  Officer Erick Gelhaus, the officer involved in the case, was cleared of criminal wrongdoing.
