Firefighters are reminding everybody to be extra careful with decorations this holiday season. Cal Fire Chief Ken Pimlott says this time of year keeps firefighters busier than ever:
Cal Fire urges people to keep a close eye on Christmas trees because they can dry up quickly. Dry trees are often the cause for home fires this time of year. Firefighters say to use decorations that are flame resistant. Electrical cords shouldn’t be frayed or cracked, and outlets shouldn’t be overloaded. People should turn off their tree lights before they go to sleep or leave the house.
