Governor Jerry Brown says he has a 15-million dollar surplus in his campaign account and he plans to raise even more. Brown said yesterday he plans to stay in politics after he leaves office January 7th, saying the funds could help defeat potential ballot measures aimed at unraveling some of his accomplishments. Meanwhile, he believes two of his most controversial proposals, high-speed rail and the Delta tunnels, will be built. Brown will be leaving Governor-elect Gavin Newsom with a projected nearly 15-billion dollar surplus and a 16-million dollar “rainy day” fund in anticipation of a recession.
