It’s not a bird. It’s not a plane. It’s not even a UFO. Astronomers say the mysterious bright light seen across California Wednesday night is likely a meteor, also known as a shooting star. Officials with the Griffith Observatory in Southern California say the object is scientifically known as a bolide, which is known to be big and bright in the night sky. It was only a coincidence that the meteor made its appearance at the same time a rocket launch was set to take place at Vandenberg Air Force Base. The launch was canceled.
