Los Angeles public school teachers are headed into day two of their strike. The president of the Los Angeles teachers’ union, Alex Caputo-Pearl, says tens-of-thousands of teachers, students and parents will again be on the picket line today.

They are demanding smaller class sizes; more nurses, counselors and librarians and higher wages for educators. Meanwhile, the Board of Supervisors will vote on a motion at 10:30 this morning that seeks to identify millions in Los Angeles County funds that could be directed to the school district to enhance healthcare for students. Schools are open during the strike.
