Sonoma County teachers are trying to gain public support in their efforts to secure salary increases. More than 100 teachers rallied yesterday afternoon in downtown Sebastopol while contract negotiations continue at a number of county public school districts. The average pay for teachers in west county school districts was 66-thousand dollars last year, 14-thousand less than the state average. Some of the teachers at the rally said if school districts don’t meet their contract demands, they would be prepared to strike.
