Petaluma Police are warning residents of a kidnapping scam happening in the North Bay. Officials say a mother reported receiving a call from a man alleging that he had her 17-year-old daughter captive and demanded money for her safe return. The teen was found safe and sound at her school in Marin County on Monday, the same day as the call. According to police, the calls usually come from fake overseas phone numbers and they are advising people of the incident in an effort to protect more residents from becoming victims.
