Women walk in the rain toward a federal court building in San Francisco, Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. A fierce winter storm packing winds in excess of 100 mph (160 kph) and predicted to bring as much as 8 feet (2.4 meters) of snow to the Sierra Nevada barreled into the West Coast on Monday, toppling trucks, triggering power outages and temporarily closing the major highway near Reno. The National Weather Service is extending the Flood Warning for all Sonoma County creeks and streams to at least 11:00 this morning. Areas of particular concern include low lying areas along Laguna de Santa Rosa, Colgan Creek, Santa Rosa Creek, Mark West Creek, Sonoma Creek and other tributaries that flow into the Russian and Petaluma Rivers. Flood waters have reached major flood stage on Willow Brook near Penngrove with widespread flooding likely downstream. Record rainfall of two-point-six-inches was recorded at the Sonoma County Airport yesterday and even heavier rain is forecast for today.
