Next Gen Tech Being Rolled Out at California 911 Emergency Call Centers

Next generation technology is being rolled out at 9-1-1 emergency call centers in California. The state’s Office of Emergency Services has awarded a contract to Rapid Deploy to outfit the state’s 440 emergency communication centers with new pinpoint technology. President of the National Emergency Number Association Jamison Peevyhouse says the new changes will be a game changer:

 

 

Currently, calls made from a cell phone to 9-1-1 can only be tracked to a specific cell tower which can cover a wide area. Now, the new technology allows first responders to see the exact location of the call.
