Rare Mendocino Inquest Underway Into Family’s Death

A rare public inquest is underway in Mendocino County into a single-vehicle crash that killed two women and their six adopted children last year. During yesterday’s opening day, the forensic pathologist testified that driver Jessica Hart was legally drunk and her wife, Sarah, and at least three of the children were heavily sedated by high levels of Benadryl. The Press Democrat says investigative findings will be presented today, showing their SUV was at a dead stop before Jennifer Hart punched the gas and drove off the 100-foot cliff near Westport. County Sheriff Tom Allman says he convened the county’s first inquest in more than 50-years to reach closure of the mysterious Hart Family case.
