Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against “Golden State Killer” suspect Joseph DeAngelo. That’s good news to Ron Harrington, whose brother was allegedly killed by DeAngelo.
Prosecutors made their announcement in a hearing for the 73-year-old in Sacramento Superior Court yesterday. DeAngelo is accused of 13 murders and multiple rapes and burglaries across the state from the 1970s to the 1980s. He was taken into custody last year through genetic genealogy, which uses familial DNA to identify a suspect. The statement from prosecutors that they’re seeking the death penalty comes amid a moratorium on executions in California.
