Salmon Season Could Be Best in Five Years

The Northern California salmon season could be the best in five years. State fishery managers yesterday approved a 122-day commercial season, almost twice as many days as last year. The salmon population is believed to be the most abundant since 2014, thanks to this year’s heavy rains making for a healthy adult spawning run. The San Francisco District season between Point Arena on the southern Mendocino Coast and Pigeon Point off San Mateo County will start on May 16th and be open most days through the end of September, plus an additional eleven days in October.
