Petaluma Writer Wins Pulitzer Prize

A Petaluma writer has won a Pulitzer Prize!

63 year old Forrest Gander won the Pulitzer Prize in poetry for his Poem Collection “Be With” and came to be in response to the passing of Gander’s wife, CD Wright, in 2016. The work itself have been describe as a series of elegies describing coming to grips with sudden loss and mourning the departed. Gander tells the Petaluma Argus Courier he didn’t think he’d win the Pulitzer Prize along with the 15 thousand dollar reward but he hopes that it would bring attention to poetry.
