Support is growing for the California Act To Save Lives. Assemblymember Shirley Weber of San Diego says her bill is not an attack on law enforcement:
This week the San Diego City Council passed a resolution lending support to Assembly Bill 392. The legislation would limit when law enforcement officers can use deadly force. Officers would be held liable for homicide if an investigation finds they acted with criminal negligence or if their use of deadly force on a civilian was necessitated by the officer’s own actions. At a rally this week the ACLU and families of those killed by officers using deadly force urged community members, lawmakers, and law enforcement agencies to lend their support.
