Officials are investigating a wildfire that burned an acre and threatened several homes outside Windsor. The fire broke out Saturday afternoon in a rural area north of the Mayacama Golf Club. It was quickly contained, but not before several households had to be evacuated and two homes were doused with fire retardant. Firefighters faced hot and dry conditions, but no wind. Officials noted that the late-season rains that gave vegetation more moisture than normal were also a big help.
