San Francisco High School To Cover Controversial Mural

A San Francisco high school will cover up a mural that shows George Washington owning slaves. The large mural at George Washington High School was painted in 1936, and depicts slaves and a slain Native American. Angry parents and others had called for the mural to be destroyed. Last night, the school board voted 4-to-3 not to destroy the mural, but to cover it up with a new mural that shows “the heroism of people of color in America.”
