Last Month’s Earthquakes Caused Major Damage To Naval Air Weapons Station

Last month’s strong earthquakes in Ridgecrest, California caused major damage to Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. It will cost $5.2 billion to repair the facility where advanced weaponry is tested. 20% of the buildings on the base are considered unsafe. Repairs are needed for an air traffic control tower, hangars, a laboratory, a gym and a pool. The base is near the epicenter of 6.4 and 7.1 magnitude earthquakes that struck July 4th and 5th, followed by dozens of strong aftershocks.
