A man was shocked when he learned how much a 47-year-old pair of running shoes in his garage was worth. In 1972, David Russell of Sacramento bought a pair of prototype, Nike Waffle Racing Moon Shoes. Only 10 pairs were given out.
Russell’s shoes were well worn and tucked away in his garage. A hotel with a shoe collection paid $50,000 for the shoes. Meanwhile, last month, a never before worn pair of Nike Moon Shoes sold for $437,500, making it the most expensive pair of shoes ever sold.
