Two cyclists are recovering and a driver is facing charges after a collision Wednesday in Petaluma. Police say 22-year-old Sophie Alicia Beetham was headed west on East D Street at about 3:30 p.m. and failed to stop at a traffic light that was circling to red. She hit one cyclist on the east side of the intersection and the other on the west side. According to police, Beetham admitted she had been drinking and her blood-alcohol level was 0.17%, just over twice the legal limit. Her four-month-old child was in the car at the time of the collision and she was arrested at the scene on DUI and child endangerment charges.
