Lucasfilm(LOS ANGELES) — There’s a lot for Star Wars fans to love coming to Disney’s forthcoming streaming service, Disney+.
Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi in three Star Wars movies, appeared in person at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California over the weekend to announce that he’ll play the Jedi master once again in a forthcoming Disney+ series.
Also, Disney dropped the first trailer for The Mandalorian, the already announced seres starring Pedro Pascal as an enigmatic gunfighter and bounty hunter in the mold of classic Star Wars character Boba Fett.
The clip offers us glimpses of the mysterious Mandalorian, dressed in armor that looks like Boba Fett’s, and gives us a quick glimpse of Carl Weathers, who also appears in the series.
However, its the villain, played by Werner Herzog, who has the clip’s only bit of dialogue. “Bounty hunting is a complicated profession — don’t you agree?” he asks.
Also starring are Breaking Bad veteran Giancarlo Esposito and Taika Waititi — the latter of whom brings the assassin droid IG-88 to life as well as working as one of the series’ directors — as well as newly announced cast member, and newly-minted Disney Legend Ming-Na Wen.
The Mandalorian launches November 12.
The as-yet untitled Kenobi series will be the third Star Wars title from Lucasfilm being made for Disney’s streaming platform, set to launch in the fall. It joins The Mandalorian and a yet-to-be-titled prequel to 2016’s Rogue One, centering on one of its doomed heroes, Cassian Andor. Diego Luna has signed on to reprise his role as the cunning Rebel spy.
