A North Bay ghost town is no more. The remnants of the town of Jewell were torn down Wednesday in an effort to help the endangered coho salmon that live in the Lagunitas Watershed. Og Now, the environmental group Turtle Island Restoration Network is working to remove all evidence that humans lived in the area and has received a grant to perform the needed work, which includes reshaping the creek’s topography and planting redwood trees along the banks.
