Senate Bill 230 Officially Signed Into Law

Senate Bill 230 was signed into law Thursday. It forces law enforcement agencies to re-write their use-of-force policies to comply with Assembly Bill 392, a bill Governor Newsom said in August, sends a message.

It is now California law for police to be trained in ways to avoid using lethal force. It also requires officers to be trained to de-escalate confrontations and find alternatives to shooting suspects.
