Governor Newsom Opposes Trump Administration’s Idea To End Required Retirement Savings Plans

Governor Newsom does not agree with the Trump administration’s efforts to stop a program that requires employers to offer retirement savings plans. The U.S. Department of Justice filed a statement of interest in a lawsuit against the CalSavers Program earlier this month. The lawsuit claims that federal law on retirement savings overrules state law. Newsom says President Trump’s administration threatens the retirement security of millions of low-income workers in California.
