Governor Newsom Vetoes Bill Aimed At Banning Paying For Ballot Signatures

Governor Gavin Newsom has vetoed a bill that aims to make paying for ballot signatures illegal. The proposed legislation would have made it a misdemeanor to pay people based on the number of signatures they collect. Under the bill, if a person or organization is found guilty, they would be fined up to $25,000, a jail sentence of up to a year or both.
