Governor Newsom Vetoes Kindergarten Bill

California school districts will not be required to offer at least one full-day kindergarten class. Governor Newsom vetoed a bill last Sunday that would have required every school to offer at least one full-day kindergarten class starting in the 2022-23 school year. Exceptions would include schools that do not have the space and would need to continue operating half-day kindergarten. Newsom said the legislation would impose new costs outside the budget.
