The former head of the Sonoma County Law enforcement watchdog is backing a ballot measure to expand the power of his former office. Jerry Threet tells the Press Democrat that he and others are backing the measure designed to strengthen the Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach or IOLERO. The measure would expand the budget of the office and would grant them greater power for investigative purposes such as access to investigative files and subpoena power. Threet had left IOLERO in February due to health concerns. He and his backers now seek 21,000 signatures over the next six months to have the measure on the 2020 November ballot.
