Southern California Edison Agrees To Settle Lawsuits From Woolsey Fire

Southern California Edison is agreeing to pay $210 million to settle lawsuits tied to last year’s Woolsey Fire. Malibu Mayor Karen Ferrer says her town will get $13.7 million.

The electrical utility admits no wrongdoing, but will pay the money to multiple public agencies. The disaster burned 96,000 acres across Los Angeles and Ventura counties, killing several people. The agreement is part of a $360 million settlement that also involves the 2018 Thomas Fire and the deadly mud flows that resulted in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
