A conservation group is revealing plans to purchase a 30,000 acre ranch along Eel River. Press Democrat reports that the The Wildlands Conservancy spent nearly $4 million to buy a 3,055-acre portion of the Dean Witter Lone Pine Ranch with a two year option to buy the remaining 27,000 acres for $25 million. The ranch stretches from Mendocino to Trinity counties and with a successful purchase, would enable public to trails and a 20 mile stretch of the river though the Eel River Canyon. The Wildlands Conservancy already owns two preserves along the river.
