Caltrans Completes Bike Path Connecting Marin & Sonoma Counties

A bike path and high-occupancy vehicle lane in the Marin-Sonoma area is now open. Officials from North Bay Caltrans held a celebration Tuesday morning for the completion of the project at the south end of Petaluma Boulevard South just east of the San Antonio Creek Bridge. The $144 million projects connected a bike path between Marin and Sonoma counties and a northbound US Highway 101 high-occupancy vehicle lane. Before the roadwork, the most direct path for bicyclists to get from Novato to Petaluma was to ride on the shoulders of Highway 101.
