Sonoma County may sue Pacific Gas and Electric over the Kincade Fire last year. The blaze burned a wide swath of land, cast a layer of smoke over the county for days, and forced the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people. A new report to the County Board of Supervisors shows the fire, evacuations, and the PG&E power shutoffs cost the county over $700 million. About half of that was from property damage, with the other half in economic losses from the fires and shutoffs. The Board of Supervisors will hear about the report tonight, and will also vote on whether or not they will move forward with their lawsuit against PG&E. The utility maintains CalFire has not yet determined the cause of the Kincade Fire.
