A Healdsburg man convicted of killing an acquaintance and burying him in a marijuana garden has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Socorra Siera was handed the sentence two months after being convicted of the 2018 kidnapping and killing of 46-year-old Jose Evelio Martinez of Cloverdale. Martinez’ family testified during the sentencing hearing, telling the court how devoted Martinez was to his family. Sierra killed Martinez with the assistance of two other men after a marijuana sale fell through. The accomplices, Felix Fernando Carreon and Climmie Smith-Hill, pleaded guilty to their roles in the slaying reaching deals with prosecutors.
