If you haven’t mailed off your early voting ballot yet and you plan on voting on Election Day, California law guarantees you time off of work to visit a polling location. California law gives registered voters up to two hours to vote on Election Day without a loss in pay. Sam Mahood, Press Secretary for the California Secretary of State’s office, says you just need to give your employer two days advance notice.
He says if you believe your voting rights are being denied, you should contact the Secretary of State’s office immediately. You can find contact information at sos.ca.gov.
