California Senator Proposes Incentives To Fight Drug Addiction

State Senator Scott Wiener is proposing a new way to get people off drugs: cold, hard cash. Weiner introduced legislation that provides financial incentives to meth addicts who stop using. Senate Bill 888 would expand existing programs to include vouchers or cash prizes in an effort to convince drug users to stop. Wiener says the bill legalizes Medi-Cal coverage for “contingency management,” which basically means cash incentives to get people to stay in treatment.
