Governor Newsom Says Protecting Senior Citizens Is Top Priority

Governor Gavin Newsom has listed protecting senior citizens as California’s top priority in the state’s effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus. A woman named Carol says the Governor’s recommendation that those aged 65 and over isolate themselves at home isn’t really changing things at the independent living senior facility where she lives and works.

The 77-year-old says she’s getting by with an attitude of being grateful for her blessings, noting that she’s fortunate to be able to get out and walk. That’s okay, according to Sacramento County’s Health Services Director Dr. Peter Beilenson, who says as of now, seniors who are healthy should stay active and can have friends over to their homes, while practicing social distancing.
