Cloth Face Masks Can Help Slow Spread Of Coronavirus

California health officials are saying that wearing a cloth face mask could help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. State Health Officer Dr. Sonia Angell says that wearing cloth face coverings “could help reduce the spread of infectious particles from those who could be infected but don’t have symptoms.” However, the mask should be used in conjunction with social distancing and frequent hand washing. The Department of Public Health stresses that Californians shouldn’t wear N95 or surgical masks. California currently does not require people to wear face coverings amid the coronavirus pandemic.
