Sonoma County hit a milestone of sorts Friday hitting 100 positive COVID-19 cases locally. Along with hitting the century mark in cumulative cases, the number of recoveries also jumped up to 20, leaving the number of active cases at 79.

As the county continues it’s mitigation efforts to prepare medical capacity in case of an expected surge of cases in the coming weeks, the number of patients that have faced hospitalization at some point during their treatment now stands at 19. 28 cases were contracted by travel to infected areas, 23 by close contact to a known infected person, and 18 instances of community spread, with 31 cases still under investigation.

While cases have increased in recent days, the rate of increase has remained roughly the same at roughly 7 new cases per day. 54 cases are from residents under 50, with 3 of the cases in patients under 18. 29 of cases are between age 50-64 and 17 cases are over 65.

The gender split still remains relatively equal, with 53 positive COVID-19 tests in females, and 47 in males. Central Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati) still has the most cases at 41, but also has the highest population density. The remaining cases are dispersed between 12-16 cases in the other geographic regions around the county.

As of Friday afternoon, Sonoma County had administered 1,820 tests with 100 positive results.
