Governor Newsom Announces California To Add 50,000 Hospital Beds

California continues to expand its ability to care for an expected increase in coronavirus cases.  Governor Gavin Newsom says the plan is to add 50,000 hospital beds to the state’s current 75,000 bed capacity.

Governor Gavin Newsom says the state has already secured more than 4,600 of those additional beds. Newsom claims California is also leasing two hospitals in Los Angeles and in Daly City. They will act as surge facilities, along with a naval medical ship being supplied by the federal government.
