On a day in which Sonoma County posted more new recoveries than new cases, it also reported its second death relating to complications of the coronavirus. According to statistic posted to the county’s website, there were three new active cases, six new recoveries, and the one new death.

The county also reports that 138 new test results were received, bringing the county’s total to almost 3,400. No information was available about the deceased patient. In her daily video briefing, Sonoma County Public Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase announced more strict isolation and quarantine policies for contacts of new positive COVID-19 cases. The new policy is part of the county’s effort of active surveillance to track the spread of new potential cases within Sonoma County.

While the county does not release how many cases are currently requiring hospitalization, the cumulative number of cases requiring hospitalization has remained steady at 20. 75% of positive cases have no underlying conditions, while 21% are smokers and 18% have chronic lung disease.

Over 80% of cases have reported a cough with their symptoms and 66% have reported a fever. While the recent death of Santa Rosa Police Department Detective Marylou Armer received widespread attention in Sonoma County, Detective Armer was a resident of Napa and did not count toward the number of Sonoma County COVID-19 deaths.
