The city of Santa Rosa is planning to set up a temporary homeless encampment in the parking lot of Finley Community Center. The camp will have tents spaced 12 feet apart and is slated to open later this month. It’ll house up to 140 people for the rest of the city’s emergency proclamation. Mayor Tom Schwedhelm says it’s part of the city’s actions to help the homeless during the COVID-19 pandemic:
The city and the organization overseeing the site say they’re figuring out who in the homeless community will be picked to be moved into the encampment.
