A Santa Rosa nonprofit is suing to keep it’s thrift stores open. The Press Democrat reports that after receiving two dozen citations for violating health orders, Crossing The Jordan is challenging both local and state restrictions put in place over COVID-19. The violations occurred between May 12 and May 20 as Santa Rosa police noted that Crossing The Jordan’s three thrift stores were only businesses being cited for violations of the health orders. The suit raises more than a dozen arguments over the constitutionality of the health orders, both state and local, citing rights to be free from unreasonable seizures, unreasonable fines, and cruel and unusual punishments.
