A federal appeals court is rejecting California’s effort to label Roundup weed killer as a carcinogen. The court ruled Monday that there’s not enough evidence to back up that claim, with only the World Health Organization labeling the product as a probable carcinogen in 2015. Bayer, which has owned the Roundup brand since 2018, faces lawsuits from thousands of users and juries have awarded payments in the billions. Bayer is appealing those verdicts and argues the chemical is safe to use.
