California needs to increase its current daily testing to contain the surge in COVID-19 cases. Scientists at Harvard Global Health Institute say the state must more than double its testing to control the spread of the novel coronavirus. Harvard estimates that California must conduct 223,000 tests per day to mitigate the reach of the virus in the state. To suppress the virus, the state should be doing multiple times that or about 825,000 tests per day. California currently performs about 85,000 tests daily.
