California Reissues Statewide Restrictions

Closures of indoor service in business sectors in Sonoma County have been extended after the latest order from Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom announced yesterday that indoor service will close for bars, restaurants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos and other businesses across all 53 counties. Along with the resurgence of coronavirus cases in the state, Newsom cited the influx of patients in intensive care units, particularly in rural areas, as reasons for the new indoor restrictions. On Sunday, Sonoma County health officials had issued a health order closing down indoor service in business sectors, but the closures were expected to last at minimum three weeks. With the state order, closures are now indefinite. Sonoma County Public Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase says there are many reasons for the increase in restrictions in Sonoma County and the state of California:

Sonoma County added 67 new cases of the virus last night, the county now has 124 cases per 100,000 residents.
