Health officials in Sonoma County say they could potentially triple the number of coronavirus tests processed daily. The public health laboratory began receiving equipment to reduce coronavirus test turnaround times according to officials yesterday. The new equipment increases the volume of tests processed from anywhere between 900 and 1,200. Officials say this would sharply reduce the county’s reliance on state-funded virus testing sites in Petaluma and Santa Rosa. Last night, the county registered 114 new cases, a record one-day total. We’ve now passed the 4,000 mark in recorded cases.
