CalTrans is planning a major realignment of Highway One along the Sonoma County coast between Bodega Bay and Jenner. It intends to move a three-quarter-mile section on the edge of an eroding cliff at Gleason Beach about 400-feet inland onto an elevated structure over Scotty Creek and the wetlands. It will end up being the largest man-made formation on the Sonoma Coast. The plan goes before the Coastal Commission in two weeks. If approved, construction would start next summer and take about two years to complete.
