State officials are reporting that thousands of the debit cards for unemployment benefits have been frozen due to suspicious activity. The debit cards frozen by the state EDD and Bank of America could represent the billions of dollars in benefits paid out since the pandemic began in March. The agency says they are working to identify the claimants that may have been impacted by scammer attacks as quickly as possible.
