Number of California’s Unemployment Benefit Applications Dropping

The number of Californians filing for new unemployment benefits is decreasing, according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Department of Labor. Senior Analyst Mark Hamrick says the new report points to an economy that is slowly healing.


Hamrick says the leisure, hospitality and retail sectors continue to be the three hardest hit industries during the pandemic, but consumer spending has resumed to what it was before March.
