Northern California Man Hospitalized Following Hiking Accident

A Northern California man is in the hospital after a hiking accident that left him stranded overnight. 48-year-old Jason Koch went hiking near Calistoga on Monday looking for his missing drone when the rock he was standing on gave way. Koch fell down an embankment and got pinned under the rock. He spent hours trying to free himself when he was able to reach his cell phone and call for help. CHP crews located him and built a fire to keep him warm until a rescue helicopter could reach him. He was air lifted to UC Davis and treated for eleven broken ribs. A GoFundMe campaign was set up to help pay for his medical bills.
