(Audio) KSRO’s Michelle Marques reports the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning that will start this evening at 11pm and extend through 11am tomorrow morning. The warning is for the North Bay Mountains as well as the Valleys, including all of Sonoma County. Strong offshore winds will be coming out of the northeast. Humidity will be moderate this evening, but will dip down to 30% relative humidity by midday Monday. The concern is for any new fire starts that could quickly grow with the high winds. The forecast calls for strong gusty winds in the higher elevations of 45 to 60 miles per hour. Make sure you are signed up for Nixel alerts by testing your zip code to 888777.
Sonoma County added an additional 183 positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The Health Department is reporting 3,111 active cases of COVID-19 and just over 10-thousand recovered cases. So far, Sonoma County has performed nearly 312-thousand coronavirus tests.
Meanwhile, a new Regional Stay at Home order will take effect tonight in parts of California and remain in place for the next three weeks. The order is activated when a region’s ICU bed availability falls below 15-percent. Under the order, playgrounds, indoor recreational facilities, hair salons, museums, movie theaters and bars will be forced to close. Gatherings of people from different households will also be prohibited, and restaurants will be limited to takeout and delivery service only. The Bay Area Region, which includes Sonoma County, is not yet under this stay at home order, although 8 of the Bay Area counties are voluntarily joining the order. Sonoma County will re-evaluate whether to join the order on Tuesday when the health officer will review our coronavirus data.
