California Resumes Use Of Moderna Vaccine

For a bit of good news, though, California can resume using a batch of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine. The move frees up more than 300,000 doses to counties, cities and hospitals struggling with their vaccine supply. The state’s Department of Public Health urged a pause in using a specific lot of the Moderna vaccine after fewer than 10 people had possible allergic reactions. The shots were given at a San Diego community clinic. State Epidemiologist Dr. Erica Pan announced a safety review found “no scientific basis to continue the pause” and shots can resume immediately. Sonoma County had recently put a pause of 7,500 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
